Indian Team- Dream Team
The Indian team has gone through a very rough patch. We lost the test series to England, the ODI series to Pakistan, and got two 1-1 ties in T20s. This is not one man’s fault. It is the entire team’s fault. We have failed while batting, and have not been able to hold them with our bowling (with the exception of the 3rd ODI vs Pakistan). I strongly believe we should call-up some other faces. Here’s my 20-man dream team for all formats, with which players should play which formats: (Code- T=Tests, O=ODIs, t=T20)
Shikhar Dhawan (t, O): He was IPL 2012’s 3rd highest scorer. He deserves a chance in the international side.
Ajinkya Rahane (t,O): Another young gun. He has done well for India as well as the Rajasthan Royals. He should play.
Gautam Gambhir (T,O,t): In the past few games, Gauti has struggled with his strike rate while opening I think that he should try coming in at number three like he did in the World Cup, and let’s see what happens.
Virat Kohli (T, O, t): He has failed repeatedly at number three. His next favorite position, however, is number 4. Let’s see how he does there.
Yuvraj Singh (O, t): He is the all-rounder we need to balance our side. He is an extremely pivotal player, and his presence at number 5 will be extremely good.
MS Dhoni (c & wk) (T, O, I) : Aaahh…captain cool. His form off late has been fantastic, and I think he should lead us at least till 2014
R Ashwin (T, O, t): A very good offie. even if his shows off late haven’t been the best he is still a dangerous spinner, and should have a place in the side. He’s also reasonably good with the bat.
Praveen Kumar (T, O, t): An excellent swinger of the ball. If anyone can replicate the damage James Anderson did in the 4th test, it’d be him.
Vinay Kumar (O, t): The second – highest Indian wicket taker in IPL 2012. He deserves to at least get a shot in the T20 squad.
Amit Mishra (T, O, t): A wicket-taking spinner. He is someone we really need in the team. Also, he packs a shot with the bat.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (O, t): The third Kumar. I think his recent performances speak for themselves, and he should definitely be a regular member in our limited over sides.
Subs: Suresh Raina (O,t), Ravindra Jadeja (O,t), Irfan Pathan (O, t), RP Singh (T, O, I), Praghyan Ojha (T, O, I), Manoj Tiwari T, O, t), Virender Sehwag (T), Cheteshwar Pujara (T,O), Umesh Yadav (T,O,t).
