Gayle cleansweeps Pitiful Punjab
On the 6th of May,The Royal Challengers of Bangalore took on The Kings XI Punjab.
Gilchrist, having won the toss for Punjab, sent the Royal Challengers in to bat first.
Bangalore got off to a wonderful start thanks to Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan. However,a little while later,Dilshan hit McLaren to Praveen Kumar, who made no mistake. Then, just as always,Kohli and Gayle bashed their way to 120-1 in a mere 12 overs,Gayle bringing up his second IPL ton. This is the first time any batsman has hit 2 tons in the history of the DLF IPL.Gayle, who seemed to playing with the bowlers almost like the way Kohli did so against Pune, hit 10 fours and 9 sixes, before smashing Piyush Chawla to Ryan Harris in the deep. That over was very beneficial for Punjab as Virat Kohli was clean bowled a few balls later. Then AB de Villiers and Saurabh Tiwari steadied RCB’s innings and stitched together a 30-run partnership until Tiwari fell to Ryan Harris. It looked as though they would get around 220-230,but they lost too many wickets towards the end and settled for a powerful 205-6.KXIP got off to a poor start losing Gilchrist, who was run out by a direct hit made by Asad Pathan.in the next over Sreenath Aravind dismissed Abhishek Nayar.A few overs later,Chris Gayle bowled a 4 over spell and took 3/21
and set up another IPL record-scoring a century and taking 3 wickets. The required run rate never came below 10 for Punjab and Aravind’s 414 sent KXIP for 120-9,crushing them by 85 runs.
