Bhajji, Chawla burn through England
Together Indian spinners Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla undermined the England batting to give India an inspiring 90-run win in the ICC World Cup T20. The bowling India produced today was nothing like the show they had produced against Afghanistan, but curiously, more like the show England pulled against Bangladesh. The circumstances were interesting, as India had left out offie R. Ashwin, spearhead Zaheer Khan, and opener Virender Sehwag. Even more as Irfan Pathan walked out with Gautam Gambhir to open. Despite losing Irfan to Steve Finn early on, a strong 57-runs stand between Gambhir and the always-in-form Virat Kohli. When Kohli fell in the 11th over, Rohit Sharma played a superb 33-ball 55 to take them to 170-4. For England, Craig Kieswetter’s 25-ball 35 was the highest score, which was more than England’s numbers 3-8 put together. Harbhajan and Chawla spun a web of magic, in which they trapped 6 English batsmen, and finished with figures of 8-3-25-6, which was too good for England. They were bowled out for 80 in 14.4 overs, which is simply not natural, and agains shows you how well Chawla and Bhajji bowled. Harbhajan Singh was named Man Of The Match for his figures of 4-2-13-4. So adios, catch you next time!
