Virat Kohli on fire in the match against Red BacksDaniel Harris’ maiden T20 ton and Shaun Tait’s 5 wicket haul went in vain as Kohli and Dilshan stormed into the semifinals with a triumphant 2-wicket win over the South Australian Redbacks. Redbacks’ skipper Micheal Klinger winning the toss and opting to bat on the high scoring ground of M Chinaswami Stadium in Bangalore. Harris got off to a flyer scoring 43 of 19 balls while Klinger attempted to anchor the innings. However, Klinger tried to play one too many and was stumped by Arun Karthik off Syed Mohammed. Then came a 117 run stand between Harris and international star Callum Ferguson. Ferguson was dissmised by Raju Bhatkal later on, trying to go big but finding Arun Karthik on 70 off 43. Harris continued to 108* of 61 while his namesake (same first names 🙂 Daniel Chiristian monstered 27* of just 9 balls with 6 fours to take them to a monstrous 214-2. One interesting fact is that Redbacks hit only 5 sixes altogether. RCB authored a furious comeback, with both Gayle and Dilshan in prime form sticking to the required run rate. Gayle was soon felled by Daniel Christian on 26 with a tremendous catch by skipper Micheal Klinger, which was actually not out but a mistake by the umpire. The ball touched the ground while he made the tough catch. Kohli joined the show and he and Dilshan gave it right back to the Redbacks bowlers scoring 70 off 35 balls before he was caught in the deep of Shaut Tait. Then RCB witnessed a middle order collapse with Tiwari (9), Agarwal (6),Vettori (8) and Bhatkal (1) departing cheaply. Later on Syed Mohammed was run out by wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman on 2. A few cheeky shots by Aravind took them to a stage where they needed 6 of 1. Arun Karthik did it. He hit a six. And RCB now literally dived and got a semifinal spot. They will play NSW Blues on Friday while Redbacks will turn their Red Backs on the clt20 and go home. Good night 🙂
